Syrah Igp 2015: here is the new Zýmē wine by Celestino Gaspari

Please welcome Syrah 2015, a new Zýmē wine coming from a long time desired project and a variety already used in the Harlequin and Kairos blend. I had the pleasure to taste it for the first time 25 years ago in its homeland Côte du Rhône. A fantastic grape variety which caught my attention first and right after which I fell in love with! Likely generous and easy for great wines, it’s actually a quite difficult grape to work with, that’s why it often reminds me of Pinot Noir.

Challenging but also eclectic, in order to reveal its best uniqueness, it needs to be romanced and deeply known, always loved and respected with elegance and finesse, just like a woman.

It was a difficult journey for me, as I decided to take on new challenges, discovering new interpretations and expressions from different parts of the world. Here I am, with my own Syrah portrait and I’m very intrigued to see how it will evolve and to hear the opinion of those who will be curious to taste it.” – Celestino Gaspari

Why Zyme?

The name Zýmē, from Greek, means “yeast.” Yeast is, of course, an indispensible element in the world of oenology, but it also bears a symbolic meaning, since it conjures up the concept of naturalness, a fundamental value in Celestino Gaspari’s professional and existential journey, as well as the process of fermenting, understood as a continuous striving towards transformation. In harmony with that philosophy, the winery logo represents a grapevine leaf in which is centred a pentagon, symbol of the five basic elements that combine to yield wine: man-vine-earth-sun-water.
